Understanding Histograms
Possibly the most useful tool available in digital photography is the histogram. It could also well be the least understood.
Bryan Alberstat will be instructing this hands-on workshop, where he will uncover the mysteries of the histogram. Bring your camera, students will engage in brief, hands-on picture taking exercises. Our goal is to have you leaving this workshop feeling more confident about using your camera while taking the mystery out of the histogram.
Experience level: Beginner and Intermediate
Equipment: SLR camera (you will want manual settings) – please bring your camera as this is a hands on workshop
Topics that will be covered are:
- What a camera histogram tells a photographer and how best to utilize that information
- Using the camera meter to properly expose a scene
- Understanding range, exposure for capture
- Post work and output
- Applying this to landscape, portrait, natural light and studio light
